About This Spot

Stepping into The Kross in Ingleside feels a bit like coming upon a well-worn neighborhood gathering spot—a place where familiarity lingers in the air, alongside the hum of easy conversation and the occasional clink of glasses. It moves at its own unhurried pace, inviting guests to settle into a space where the lines between bar, breakfast nook, and casual eatery melt comfortably together. The atmosphere reflects a blend of time-tested charm and everyday warmth, marked by friendly nods from regulars and a sense that newcomers are quickly made welcome.

Here, the culinary experience is refreshingly straightforward, a reflection of the place itself. Whether you're drawn by the late mornings filled with hearty comforts or the buzz of happy hour, the menu feels like a conversation among friends—offering familiar, satisfying flavors that comfort without pretense. The kind of dishes you find yourself coming back to: hearty sandwiches, satisfying burgers you can customize, and classics like corned beef hash or biscuits and gravy that seem to carry a hint of home cooked love. And when seafood lovers gather on crab leg Saturdays or fish fry nights, the table is laid for a celebration that’s as much about community as it is about food.

The Kross wears its dive bar roots with a kind of honest pride. It’s not polished or pristine, but it is cared for, with enough quirks and character to feel authentic rather than staged. The friendly bartenders and attentive service keep the energy welcoming, making it easy to linger over a cold cider, a perfectly crafted Bloody Mary, or dive into some of the old-school beers that nod to Chicago’s rich brewing past. Games like darts and pool add playful touches, all set beneath the glow of multiple TVs, making it a spot both for relaxed solo visits and lively group nights.

Ultimately, The Kross is a place where comfort lives in the small details: the hum of background music, the easy pace that lets you unwind, and the simple joy of sharing good food and drink in a space that feels like it’s been part of the community’s story for years. It’s less about spectacle, more about the real, human moments that happen when people pull up a chair, order a round, and settle in for a while.

Had the Saturday Night all you can eat crab leg night. Jess (?) gave me amazing service and the food and drink were excellent! The snow crabs were so good as well as all the sides. And reordering more was super easy. Great night I will be back!

Stop here a couple times a month. This is 100% dive bar. Overall it’s pretty worn down but kept pretty clean. The locals are friendly and typically interact with others. Food is pretty good and they have daily specials. There seems to be enough parking at least during the day. Bar tenders are friendly and do a good job with the service. Pool table, darts and gambling machines. A few tvs are typically playing some sports.

I came in here at the end of my shift and really had an amazing time with Tia. She introduced me to some really fun old school beers that they have like hamms. They also have Malort, which was extremely fun as a Chicago history lover! I can’t tell you enough how great the Tuesday 50 Cent wings are! Some of the best chicken wings I’ve ever ever had!

Additional review: Went on a Friday for all you can eat fish and/or shrimp. Surprised on how big the shrimp were for an AYCE, and the fish was available in baked or fried. We had the baked. Have to say fish and shrimp were awesome. Highly recommend the food. We were a little disappointed as it took 45 minutes to get our food, and then the second plate took 40 minutes. I don't think it was the servers being slow, but it was the kitchen that was way too slow. Never had that problem here, so we were surprised. Breakfast was good. Good value for the amount of food you get for the price. Service was very friendly, but slow. We would go again. I had The Meat Lover Skillet.

Enjoy exceptional cuisine at reasonable prices, with a selection of alcoholic beverages available. Please seat yourself and relax to background music throughout the venue. Note: Air conditioning levels may vary slightly in different areas of the restaurant.

Nice neighborhood bar with friendly people. Slot gaming. Nice menu and daily specials! Taco and wing Tuesdays are my favorite!

The food is surprisingly good. Looking at this place, I wasn't even sure if there was a kitchen. Turns out they make really good food. The Ruben blew me away. I think it's in contention to be the best in Fox Lake. The service is really good but was understaffed. Saturday at 6 pm, and there was only 1 bartender. She made it work and made sure we were taken care of regardless, though, even if it took a bit longer than we would have liked. Now the ambiance is where I have a small issue. It's a dive bar, I get that. But it needs to be updated. If your competition is Pug Mahomes, you need to step it up a bit, in my opinion.

First time in here was this morning and it was a great little place. Had some corned beef hash which was really good and now I have to go work off the calories. But it was worth it. Heather took GREAT care of me. Thank you Heather! Will definitely come back and loved the 80's music!
